Mobile Autism Clinic

29 foot recreational vehicle with a wrap that says Virginia Tech Mobile Autism Clinic

During this time of physical distancing, the MAC is not traveling.  We will resume as soon as it is safe to do so.

This outreach initiative is housed in a 2004 renovated 29-foot RV which traveled up to 130 miles each week to communities within the Mount Rogers Community Services catchment area. VTAC’s specially trained doctoral level student clinicians, overseen by Dr. Scarpa, have offered low cost or free mobile assessments and therapy services, alternating locations each week.  Few, if any, other mobile autism clinics exist in the country.  Since its inception, the MAC has travelled over 7,600 miles and served over 25 families for a total of 109 appointments, with the goal of supporting family well-being by empowering parents and caregivers with additional skills on how to better support their children with Autism.
