Our staff and faculty are available to consult with parents and schools about educational accommodations and coping with academic difficulties related to ASD. We also provide education and training about ASD to community professionals and health providers, including information about early detection and intervention. We can provide information to your school, work setting, mental health organization, health agency, or parent/teacher group.
Throughout the school year we host the VTAC/CAR speaker series. Many of these presentations are eligible for service providers through the American Psychological Association. The speaker series information can be found on the "Events" page.
As part of the mission of VTAC/CAR, we provide training to local service providers. In the past, we have regularly provided training on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (2nd edition, ADOS-2), a gold-standard evaluation tool for ASD; specialized cognitive behavioral training programs, such as the Stress and Anger Management Program (STAMP), which was developed by Director, Dr. Angela Scarpa; and educational information sessions for camp counselors, local businesses, foster care, the community public library, and other local groups.
